Summertime Car Care

When summer approaches, there are things you want to do around your house to get it ready for that hotter weather. However, you should also put that same effort toward doing things to protect your car from that hotter weather as well. If you aren't sure where to start with regards to preparing your car for those summer months, then reading the information in this article can help get you started:

Check all of the fluids

It's always a good idea to check all the fluids at the start of every season, but it is especially important right before summer. You want to make sure the fluids are good at the beginning of summer, so you don't end up running your car low on fluids and ending up causing a lot of damage to occur to the motor.

Depending on the region you live in, the summer days can get into the triple digits often. If this is the case where you live, then you are even going to want to make sure you check the fluids at least once a month throughout the entire summer. If you have a battery with cells that may need to have water added, then don't let it slip your mind to check the fluid levels in the battery cells as well.

Consider replacing your tires

If your tires are starting to wear, then summertime may be the right time for you to have new tires put on. The hotter streets and the sun beating directly on the tires when the car is parked will only make the condition of your tires get worse. Also, if you tend to park your car in a spot where it takes on a lot of sunlight, then you can purchase covers that you put against them to offer them shade and help them to last longer.

Try to park your car in the shade

Whenever it is possible, you should try to park your car under a shade tree, in a covered carport or in the garage. The more you protect your paint job from the beating sun, the longer you will be helping your paint job to look good. Direct sunlight can cause the paint to face and get a bleached outlook over time.

Replace your wiper blades at the end of summer

Those hot summer days and the glaring sun can take a toll on the condition of your windshield wipers and cause them to become brittle. When your wipers get worn out and brittle, it can cause you to find yourself having problems when it rains, and you go to use them, only to find they don't wipe your windshield off good enough for you to see out of your windshield safely.
